Marc Ecko Breakout and For Life Cardigans

Marc Ecko remakes the cardigan in these screen printed sweaters with lots of cool embellishments.

I was born in the streets of Malibu,
You have perhaps heard that name a couple of times,
They say the world's hottest parties go on out there,
But for me, there was only cold snow.....
As for my appetite, I had to do with some stale meat loaf,
That the local butcher used to throw away from a back door,
That is if I was lucky; otherwise... use your imagination.

Then there was Mat, who tried often to steal that too,
He was a one frail, starved and crazy cat, but it is not in my nature to show mercy,
So I fought it off, often with a few scratches here and there.
It hadn't always been this way; there was Jerry I remember...
There was his cosy bed, there were his many games too,
My friends (I don't know where they are now) were jealous because I lived with Jerry,
Or maybe because I lived in a house that resembled a palace,
They kept me as a 'pet';

They called me 'Deutsche': whatever that meant,
But then I got too old, they thought, I wasn't 'fit' any more to be a pet,
"You can always get yourself a new one", Jerry's mom's said,
"These things come and go, this one is too stupid and old for your games now..."
Sure enough, I found myself on the Malibu street: 48B once again,
A place for tattered old buildings, garbage cans and unfortunate selves like myself.

It has been seven years since that winter's night...
I was taking a casual walk along the denser forest road some way off from Malibu,
That was where the six hounds caught me off my guard, and laid an ambush,
I don't know their reasons, only that they came at me from everywhere;
But it is not in my nature to turn tail and run, so I went for one's throat,
And split it open, blood streamed down like in a mystical stream on to that moonlit jungle path,
Perhaps they had never seen their own blood before... they ran away.

It was a week from then that I finally admitted to having sustained serious injuries,
I remember that night- an exceptionally cold night; the following morning- I never woke up.
So that was the story of my life,
But do you humans care? I'll tell you what....
I didn't make this trip back up for nothing:
It was to say that I see a bit of 'me' in 'you', way too much to say sooth,
You too are selfish, cruel, merciless and every other thing you can think of,
In common dog-speak, my story is pretty much yours too;
All that 'you and your humanity' has come to:
A Dog's Life...
You still think I am talking about a dog?

No More Dead Dogs

Nobody understands Wallace Wallace. This reluctant school football hero has been suspended from the team for writing an unfavorable book report of Old Shep, My Pal. But Wallace won't tell a lie-he hated every minute of the book! Why does the dog in every classic novel have to croak at the end? After refusing to do a rewrite, his English teacher, who happens to be directing the school play Old Shep, My Pal, forces him go to the rehearsals as punishment. Although Wallace doesn't change his mind, he does end up changing the play into a rock-and-roll rendition, complete with Rollerblades and a moped!
Customer Review: Gordon Korman does it again!
I read Gordon Korman's Everest and Island series with my dad last year in second grade. This year, however, I read NO MORE DEAD DOGS on my own and really loved it! The book has a nice mix of comedy, drama, and fun. Wallace Wallace is a hardheaded football player who has a grudge against Mr. F, his school's English teacher and theater director. This would be a good book to read if you like to laugh out loud. Gordon Korman breaks the comedy scale with this book!
Customer Review: Fun book
My 13 year old son had to read this book for a school book report. He very much enjoyed this book which made the report easier. I think he would say "read this book".

If you want to be a happy dog owner, you need to teach loose leash walking to your puppy. Often, dog owners found this is extremely difficult.

We interviewed few professional dog trainers and owners. In this article, you will find simple but helpful tips to train your dog to walk on a leash.

Why training loose leash walking to your puppy is difficult?

1.Puppies always pull you to go from one point to other because walking along with you is not a natural behavior of a dog.

2. It is a natural instinct of a dog to run whenever they see something exciting. Hence, teach a dog to walk on a leash is very important.

3. Training loose leash walking is challenging because you consider only your agenda but you do not pay any attention what your dog wants.

How to teach a dog or puppy to walk on a leash?

1. You need to train your puppy to wear collar. Initially, your puppy will feel discomfort but gradually your dog will accept it. You should not remove the collar because your dog is scratching it or barking. You should remove the collar only when the puppy is not trying to get out of it.

2. You puppy may overwhelm by an entire leash all at once. You should start initially with a string, shoelace and increase the length as your puppy gets used to it.

3. Play with your dog first before you start training him on walking on a leash. You should start with some fun game like run, fetch. You should reward your dog for a loose lease. Every time your dog does this, correctly praise him and give a treat.

4. Ignore bad behavior of your dog and never allow yourself to be pulled by your dog. You should stop whenever your dog pulls you. This will frustrate your dog and it will not pull you. You should practice your puppy walking on leash at least 5 minutes initially.

How you can learn this technique at your home?

Several dog owners recommended sit stay fetch dog training ebook and its training video as the best resource to train dog at home. You can read sit stay fetch review and interesting articles on dog behavior problems in my blog.

The Korean Jindo dog is a hunting breed that originated in Jindo Island in Korea. Although it is relatively unknown outside of Korea, it is highly celebrated and valued for its fierce loyalty and bravery. The Jindo is a medium sized dog, weighing between about 25 to 50 pounds. It is double-coated and looks like a spit-type dog. Two body styles, Gyupgae and Heutgae, exist. Gyupgae describes a shorter, compact, and more muscular body while Heutgae expresses a slender dog, with less depth of chest and a longer loin. Korean law only officially recognizes white and yellow Jindos as having correct coloration. However, the United Kennel Club recognizes five different coat colors of white, fawn, grey, black and tan, and brindle.

There is no written record of the history of the Jindo. However, experts agree that the Jindo dog originated on Jindo Island. They were probably bred to hunt wild boars, rabbits, badgers, and deer. They have also been known to hunt extremely dangerous animals, such as Siberian tigers. Jindos are one of three dog breeds known that has ever been able to hunt the tigers. They are renowned for their hunting ability due to their courage, cunning, and pack sensibility. There are anecdotal tales in Korea about owners being woken early in the morning to have their Jindo lead them to a deer they killed during the night. Stories also exist of intruding coyotes being killed by Jindos in the United States.

Another favorite tale about a Jindo dog occurred in 1993. Baekgu, a 7 year old female Jindo, was sold to a different owner in a town about 185 miles away from her original owner. She escaped her new home and traveled 7 months back to her old owner, arriving in a skin and bones condition. Baekgu became a national sensation and has a statue erected in her honor in Jindo County.

Jindo dogs are considered a national monument of Korea. They are protected under the Cultural Properties Protection Act under the "Jindo Preservation Ordinance." Additionally, the breed marched in the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. The United Kennel Club (UKC) recognized the breed in 1998 but the American Kenner Club still does not recognize the breed.

The Jindo dog is a loyal and friendly family pet. Because they are such a loyal species and a good watch dog, Jindos can be aggressive with strangers. If you are interested in learning more about how to handle this issue, this pet aggression website can provide helpful information.

I Am the Dog I Am the Cat

Distinguished poet Donald Hall and award-winning artist Barry Moser have teamed up to create a hilarious, affectionate portrait in contrasts of our companions, and often best friends, a cat and a dog. With evocative words and masterful paintings, they delineate the doginess and catlike qualities that everyone will recognize. Full-color illustrations.
Customer Review: Item good. Amazon bad
The item was fine, but due to a glitch in the system, I was sent two items instead of one. I sent the extra item back to Amazon within the required time period with an explanation of my dilema. I requested they notify me when item received and my credit card be credited the amount of the returned item purchase price. Upon receiving my package, they (Amazon) quickly repackaged the same item with my note attached and sent it back to me with NO explanation of why they wouldn't accept my return. I've done alot of business with Amazon in the past as well as all my family Membere. My daughter had mentioned to me that Amazon was difficult with returns, but I didn't think it would ever happen to me. None of us will ever purchase from them again. These items can be purchased directly from the manufacturer, or other retailers. No one needs to deal with Amazon. I also noticed they raised a few of their prices now that the holiday season is here. Thanks Amazon for showing your true colors!
Customer Review: Cute book!
I thought this book was the best when I was a kid, and I still love it! It is one of the cutest books I have ever read! I am now in the 8th grade, and I used this book for a speech competition with my friend. We got a superior (not to brag or anything). This book is probabally for kids from ages 5-8.

All Dogs Go to Heaven - The Series: Friends to the Rescue

After retrieving Gabriel's Horn in the 1996 movie, All Dogs Go To Heaven 2, the irrepressible German shepherd Charlie Barkin and his loyal dachsund sidekick, Itchy Itchiford, are not interested in returning to heaven; rather, they continue their canine adventures on Earth in MGM Animation's television series of the same name, which aired from 1996-1999. Both the movie sequel and television series are loosely based on Don Bluth's 1989 film, All Dogs Go To Heaven, though Bluth was not involved in these spinoff projects and the only returnee from the original film is Dom DeLuise (again voicing the part of Itchy). Set in present day San Francisco, the television series includes many of the characters from the film sequel, though Charlie and Sasha are now mostly friends, Charlie and Itchy live as bachelors, and Carface plays a lesser role. "Friends to the Rescue" is a DVD compilation of four 22-minute episodes from the show's first season, following the escapades of Charlie and Itchy as newly inducted guardian angels, assigned various "missions" by the watchful whippet archangel, Anabelle. Many of the voiceovers will be familiar including Sheena Easton (Sasha), Bebe Neuwirth (Annabelle), and Ernest Borgnine (Carface). The newcomer to the cast is Steven Weber who lends his voice as Charlie in a lineup of palatable (if not mildly bland) storylines offering tidy lessons in friendship and kindness. The best of the bunch is the humorous "Cyrano de Barkinac" when Itchy falls for a lovely pooch name Bess and enlists the help of "Charlie's Charm School" to win her favor. While Bluth's original film explored themes of crime, death, betrayal, and heaven in an artistically quirky musical format, these tales are straightforward Saturday morning fare reminiscent of Disney's Aristocats. --Lynn Gibson
Customer Review: All Dogs Go To Heaven: The Series
Great movie. A winner for fans of the original "All Dogs Go To Heaven" movies. My 8 yr old actually likes the television series like this better than the full-length movie. I agree. Great stories and charming characters. A must to have for families.

Dog grooming is an important time for both you and your dog - you should both enjoy the experience, you have a chance to increase the bond between you and it is a necessary part of maintaining the good health of your faithful companion. Pets need their human to care for them and they enjoy spending time with you.

The breed of your dog and the type of coat he has will determine how often he needs brushing and bathing. A short haired dog needs brushing twice a week to remove loose hair; a longer haired dog will need daily brushing to prevent matting of the coat. Grooming is a good time to check for any irregularities in the skin or the dog's condition, and if you find any problems contact your vet. Finding and treating symptoms early can be important.

When brushing you dog, always brush the same direction as the coat grows. Use proper grooming tools that are suited to the type of coat your dog has. If there are tangles, work from the edge of the tangle to gradually free the hair. Be careful on the tummy because dogs are very sensitive there and also on their ears. Frequent brushing keeps your dog looking shiny and healthy and you will proud to take him out for walks.

Some long haired dogs with a heavy undercoat will need to be combed after brushing, to remove dead fur which will matt if not kept under control. Water dogs, some gun dogs and dogs bred for cold climates are in this category. Use a comb in the same manner as a brush and make sure you have the correct tool for the job. Be gentle as combs can pull the skin.

Nail clipping is another important part of dog grooming. Nails that grow too long can cause foot problems. It can be a stressful activity for some dogs so it is helpful to start when your dog is still a puppy. Clip the nails often with dog nail clippers and take only the tip off each time to avoid injury.

Dogs have no way of keeping clean and so need a regular bath. Use warm water and a dog shampoo for bathing and make sure you have brushed him before the bath, as tangles are made worse by water. It is important to dry him well, especially around the chest and tummy, and taking him for a brisk walk is a great way to dry him off and reward him for his good behavior during his bath. Bath time is a good time to clean the dog's ears - use a cotton tip dipped in alcohol and clean around the parts of the ear that you can see. Never push into the ear canal.

Customer Review: waited and waited
it took almost 3 weeks to get this item so if your in a hurry you may want to look elsewhere, it finally arrived ,after I contacted seller and tried to cancel my order. It was way to big for my 3 lb dog so I altered it,,

I've been a dog lover since I was born (at least I want to think so) but out of 27 years of my life so far, I've only had one and only dog. Kiky was her name. Hence, I am not a dog expert like Cesar Milan but I know Kiky had a great and happy life and I think any dogs should too.

Yes, all dogs may be different and sometimes you just can't avoid in giving them some tough love but most of the time the real way in loving your dog is in the essence of showing that you care deeply for them. They know it. Somehow.

Kiky was a Miniature Pinscher. When my family discovered her, she was already 1 year old. My family totally had no experience in taking care of dogs. We didn't really have any manuals too. But what I know for sure, my family has whole lot of love to give and my parents are pretty much a disciplinarian too. Love with discipline had apparently been the core foundation in providing Kiky what she needs to live for 14 years. Yes, it's still an amazing age for a small dog like her. We are forever grateful for her perseverance to live longer than she should.

I realize there's no one right way in loving your dogs. You may put her in an LV bag or just $1 cushion, they will love you as much. They do earn the title man's best friend. I think human can't do as good as them.

How to love your dog?
Love is the key in everything.
Love doesn't mean you are spoiling them and keep giving them what they want.
Loving dogs mean you care for them and you want them to be happy and in return you too are happy.
If by loving the dogs you are losing your sanity, then that is not love. You may be better off without it.

What I can say when it comes to my family is that we know we have given the best we could and Kiky knew just that too. We don't give her any dog food. She ate what we ate. But that didn't stop her from living more than 10 years. We didn't bathe her with dog shampoo, she used what we used. And she had beautiful hair all over her body, shiny and smooth, even till the second she died. She didn't sleep on the floor or outside the house, she slept with us on the bed and she still behaved really well and not stepping on top of our head and made us crazy with her behaviors. Yes, my family had broken almost all rules in "how to keep a pet" guidebook, but we were happy and we were all one big family, with Kiky.

I guess the key in loving your dog is to remember he/she is a being too. If your intention of having a pet is not for a practical purpose such as keeping someone out of your lawn, then you may consider he/she as part of your family. Just like bringing up a kid, you'd like him/her to be the best he/she can be. A balance of fun and discipline is always needed.

Love your dog like you love yourself and each other. You'll be surprised how you'll be treated and thanked for. Though dog can't speak with words but they sure can convey their gratitude even after they have moved on to the after-life. How do I know that? I know, cause after 3 years Kiky has gone, I feel her every single day. That's when you know you've loved your dog the right way.

Dog food is very important for your dog's health and it is important that you chose the right food to feed your dog. Puppies need different food then adult dogs just as older dogs have different dietary needs. You may find certain food is making your dog very slow and laconic; this many times is a symptom of not using the right food. You can get advice on what types of food will be best for your dog from your veterinarian.

Good commercially made foods are formulated to work in your dog's digestive tract. Certain "people" food is just to rich for dogs and they cannot keep it down. Additionally some foods, such as chocolate, are actually poisonous to dogs. If you have regularly fed your dog "people" food from a young age then it will be very difficult to get the dog to eat commercial food. Dogs that were brought up on canned or bagged food will not have a problem though dogs still like their food to taste good. If it isn't tasty then they won't eat it.

All dry dog food should be stored in an airtight container. This seals in the aromas as well as keeping any bugs out of the food. If you leave a serving of dry food out, it will not spoil, but it may attract ants and other bugs or rodents. To keep canned food fresh you should cover and store it in your refrigerator. If it is left out it will attract flies and become stale. When feeding your dog the bowl should be on an easy to clean surface as you want to keep the dog bowl and feeding area as clean as possible. Dog bowls tend to be constructed of metal, ceramic and plastic.

Just as humans need certain foods so do dogs, but they have different nutritional requirements. Dogs need protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins to survive. Dogs do not actually need carbohydrates to survive but they are not true carnivores and cannot live on protein alone. In order to get a good nutritional balance dogs need a combination of protein, vegetables and cereals and dog food incorporates these into the dog food at varying percentages.

Pet food can be costly, particularly if you are purchasing premium brands. However there are enough types of dog foods available that you should be able to find a dog food that you dog like and that isn't to hard on your wallet. It is important to keep your dog as healthy as possible and feeding your dog the right dog food is an important part of their health.
